5 things you should know about crystals

What keeps me excited about crystals are the fact that they are always teaching me something new. I have had a deep connection with crystals now for over 2 decades when I first started channeling crystal jewellery for customers.

Working and studying the metaphysical is and has always been fascinating – I started studying gemology in greater detail last year as it really compliments my understanding of gemstones and crystals.

Living and working in the middle of the oldest and largest stone circle in the world helps because to me – they are also large crystals!

When you look at your own collection of crystals and gemstones what do you know about them? Probably their name and perhaps a little information about what they can do for you?

Here are five facts you may not be aware of:

1 – Each crystal structure has been beautifully aligned with sacred geometry.

Crystals are structured in alignment with the Platonic Solids. Its mathematical and very deep but in essence it means crystals have been created  with tetragonal, orthorhombic, hexagonal, monoclinic, triclinic, isometric, amorphous or trigonal systems within them.

These systems are everywhere we look, within nature, our planet and most importantly within our own bodies and this is exactly why crystals are able to work at metaphysical levels on the human body.

If you are looking for a powerful healer choose a hexagonal crystal and for a crystal that may be a good conductor of energy I would go for something cubed shaped or possibly isometric.

Jerry Sargeant uses these shapes in much of his work and many of his meditations – and for good reason!

2 – Quartz isn’t just Quartz

There are a number of different crystals that fall into the Quartz family and they include Amethyst and Citrine as the most popular, but then you have the crystalline Quartz group – Chalcedoney, Agate, Carnelian, Tigers Eye and Chrysoprase.

You can programme any quartz crystal to work with you in your metaphysical work to help you in happiness, health or prosperity to name a few. Simply hold your quartz in meditation, set your intention and visualise that intention going into the crystal.

If you ever change your mind and want to re programme the quartz – just do exactly the same thing but imagine a white light clearing the energy of the crystal – you will know when it is ready to be reprogrammed!

Quartz is the type of crystal that will spend years with the same owner, continually building and developing its relationship with you.

3 – Lemurian Crystal lines and striations are FULL of knowledge.

Lemurian crystals are found in Brazil, Arkansas and Afghanistan and have become extremely popular with healers all over the world in recent years.

Lemurian quartz is different to regular quartz in that they are also not always as crystal clear as normal quartz with some having a milky look in the crystal face. The biggest differentiator are the lines and striations on the sides of a Lemurian that have been naturally formed during its birthing from the Earth.

These lines are full of ancient knowledge and wisdom that can be released from the Lemurian to it’s keeper during meditation. Gently rubbing the lines during meditation can help you learn about your own journey and personal transformation.

Lemurian crystals are well known to ‘select’ or ‘choose’ their owner – if this happens you will know because you won’t be able to put it down!

4 – Birthstone or Astral Crystals really are specific to YOU

Everyone has a birthstone associated with the month and star sign under which they were born. Sometimes these can differ as they can also be called Astral Stones (there are two trains of thought on birthstones and astral stones)

Wearing your birthstone or astral stone can really help you with learning about yourself and the great thing is they are almost all readily available as crystals or jewellery.

The different meanings of the stones that are linked to each star sign are as different as the star signs themselves.

5 – Be careful which stones you have in your bedroom!

Carnelian is like caffeine… it offers vigour and high levels of brain activity. Great if you are going to the gym, starting a new project or wanting to stay awake for any reason but not so great in any area that you might want to sleep in!

Quartz has a very high vibration – in fact it vibrates higher than any other mineral and therefore should be kept out of your bedroom. Used in meditation you might find it harder to ‘go’ but personally I have always loved a meditation with Quartz – they make for a good fun and energising meditation.

  1. Am fascinated by your insight, and love the way you write. Am wondering what you think about crystals which are filled with a green moss-like substance, which, over many years, clears, leaving either a clear space, with the moss “pushed” to one side, or even rutiiated space inside the crystal. I have four of these, ranging from a tiny pendant to a piece about four inches by three inches; all are dearly loved and have been clearing over twenty to thirty years. One has golden strands now. Your thoughts would be welcome Jo Roberts

  2. I love crystals and stones of any kind…they draw me into another world like a parallel universe. I have a wide variety of crystals and all in different sizes and shapes. One day about 15 years ago now, a friend and I wondered into a very small crystal shop in Staithes (small fishing village just outside of Whitby) just down the coast from where I live. As I walked through the door into the shop there was a tall glass cabinet and on the bottom shelf which was out of any clear view to anyone walking in, there was a large crystal skull (about the size of a small child’s head). My eyes were drawn to it immediately because I would swear on oath that it called my name. I couldn’t take my eyes of it and asked if I could take it out and look at it properly. I was gripped by it’s power and knew I had to buy him! I say him because that is certainly what he is…pure unreservedly male!
I was scared to ask how much he was, not just because of the size but also the weight…he is very heavy. I also didn’t know the the type of crystal, certainlynothing I or my friendhad seen before. The shop assistant said he was snowflake obsidian. Straight away I knew this to be incorrect and said so, but she was adamant and said that’s what it says here and I don’t know any different. I said Okay so how much? £38.50 she said. Okay I said I will buy him…if it had much more I knew there was no way I could have afforded to buy him…£38.50 was pushing my limit but honestly…that as all I could pay.
Well what an incredible journey he took me on and continues to do so to this day. WOW his power is incredible! He looks black from a distance but up close he is a very dark greenish sheen to him and there are so many markings…which have developed further over the years and have become more enhanced. On first glance he scares the bejesus out of people. But you can see that people can’t take their eyes of him and are compelled to give in and hold him in their hands. Within seconds people are stroking him like he is a cat and they start smiling from ear to ear, saying awwww isn’t he gorgeous. They are fascinated by him and after a while they seem to go off in to a trance like state. At this point I have to give them a warning!! If you hold him for much longer he will take you on a journey relating to your past, either in this life or other past lives. You will either be shocked or elated! He brings up things you may not like which you must face and learn the lesson now once and for all in order to progress in this life. Some people go ahead and others choose not too…but most people can’t resist the challenge and agree to go ahead. They are transformed in their outlook and really benefit from the journey. He is an incredible soul…he really is!!!
One day, a few months after he came into my possession, a friend asked me what’s his name? I was sat holding him in my lap at the time. I don’t know I said, and 2 seconds after I spoke I said oooh he’s just told me his name is Achmed.
For about a year, despite asking people who had worked with crystals for many years, no one knew what type of crystal he was and Achmed certainly wouldn’t tell me….that was upto me to find out! He is very direct with his messages and can be very forceful even with me! Low and behold an opportunity came up to go on what my friend and I thought was a weeks crystal course at Glastonbury with Judy Hall as the facilitator. Wonderful I said…I will take Achmed and she will be able to tell me what crystal he is. To our surprise…despite going through all the details of that week’s course, it wasn’t until we got there that we discovered the course was on astrology! We nothing about that would definitely not have gone on the course. I think Achmed had something to do with this because as soon as Judy Hall saw him, she said he was Lemurian Jade. She asked me how much I had paid for him and she couldn’t believe the price of £38.50. She said for the size and weight he should have been priceless! And my goodness he most certainly is to me!
You mentioned Lemurian crystals tend to select or choose their owners…well Achmed certainly chose me and I’m so glad he did. For years my partner wouldn’t allow him in the bedroom, but now he’s accepted him and is becoming more agreeable of him. He still refuses to sit and hold him though and my partner is very sceptical of these things. Anyway, that’s my story of Achmed. Maybe
I could send you a photo of him?? He likes being around my Dragon and Unicorn crystals as well as clear quartz.
Any replies to the above story would be most welcome.
    Best wishes…Ann-Marie
